I recently started a new job at a hybrid workplace, and I'm starting to have serious doubts about my decision. My boss had mentioned during the hiring process that the previous employee left partly due to a lack of social interaction. He even apologized in advance for my workplace buddy, saying they often ignore messages and don’t engage with the team. Now that I've been here for about a month, things have only gotten worse. My colleagues are not particularly engaging, and my boss hasn't provided the support he promised regarding my buddy. While I appreciate not being pressured to come into the office, I feel increasingly isolated and unsupported in what was supposed to be a collaborative environment. As a man in my 30s who has struggled to build the life I want, this situation is hitting me harder than I anticipated. Has anyone else been in a similar position? How should I approach this with management, and when would it be appropriate to start looking for another job?
