I recently went through an interview process for a position that was advertised as a hybrid role, specifically mentioning three days in the office. However, during the interview, I was surprised to learn that it is actually a full-time in-office position, which requires a 1.5-hour commute each way. This means I would be spending around 15 hours a week just in traffic, and that's not something I'm willing to do. Now I'm reflecting on how to approach the next round of interviews, if there even is one. I feel blindsided by this change in the role's description and am considering whether it's worth continuing with the process. Some advice I've received suggests that if they misrepresented the role in the first place, it raises questions about their honesty and transparency. I’m torn between withdrawing from the process altogether and attending the next interview just to confront them about the discrepancy. If I do go, I plan to bring a printout of the original job posting to hold them accountable. It’s important for me to work for a company that is upfront about their job offerings. Ultimately, I’m leaning towards not continuing with this opportunity unless I find myself in a desperate situation. Spending that much time commuting is simply excessive.
