Feeling anxious about starting a new job in an unfamiliar niche next week

I’m starting a new job next week, and I’m feeling a wave of anxiety wash over me. After nearly six months of being unemployed, I finally received a job offer that I felt I had to accept, but honestly, I’m not excited about it at all. Instead, I’m filled with dread and anxiety about actually starting. The role is in the same industry I’ve worked in before, but it’s in a completely different niche that I have little interest in and even less knowledge of. To make things worse, every person who interviewed me gave me a different description of what the role entails, so I have no clear idea of what to expect. I’m terrified that I won’t know what to do and that I’ll end up failing. I used to be really confident in my work and was a top performer at my last job, but now I feel like I have no confidence at all for this new position. I’m just dealing with some really intense first-day jitters and I’m not sure how to cope with them.
