Supporting my frontend engineering team after a layoff in Chicago

I recently experienced a significant layoff at my mid-sized B2B SaaS company in Chicago, where my entire frontend engineering team of five was cut due to my boss's decision to implement an AI agent that he believes will replace us. Despite the challenging circumstances, I took it upon myself to help my team find new opportunities. Within a month, I managed to secure job offers for all of them, which was incredibly rewarding given the tight-knit bond we shared—almost like family. I dedicated a lot of time to one-on-one sessions with each team member, reviewing their resumes and LinkedIn profiles as if they were my own. I polished their resumes and leveraged my personal connections for warm introductions, while also building new ones. To further support those affected by layoffs in the Chicago area, I created group chats using Articuler to connect with others in similar situations. In these uncertain times, especially with the rapid advancements in technology, I believe it's crucial to focus on our human connections and support one another. It's this sense of community and empathy that truly helps us thrive.
