I was laid off nearly a year ago after working as a backend engineer for over 15 years. Recently, I received two job offers: one from a FAANG company for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) role and another for a Lead Engineer position at a non-FAANG company, which offers almost half the compensation. I'm leaning towards the FAANG offer due to the higher pay, but I'm concerned about whether taking the SDET role will hinder my chances of transitioning back to a Software Engineer (SWE) position in the future. It's a tough decision, as SDET isn't my preferred path.
