I recently quit my position as a Senior Benefits Analyst due to a toxic work environment created by my manager. After 7.5 years in benefits, I’m looking to transition into a different role, even if it means taking a pay cut. I’ve always enjoyed helping people understand their benefits and navigating the healthcare industry, but my last job was overwhelming with expectations that I should already know complex data analytics and strategy, which I wasn’t trained for. This led to significant anxiety and health issues for me. I’m considering project coordinator roles since I have experience leading open enrollment and compliance reporting. I’m also taking project management courses to enhance my skills. However, I’m concerned about finding a supportive work environment, as I’ve noticed a trend of abusive behavior in HR as I’ve advanced in my career. I’m eager to find a position that utilizes my skills without the stress I just endured.
