Waiting for Internal Job Offer Update After Recent Interviews at Fortune 500 Company

I recently interviewed for an internal position at my large Fortune 500 company, where I've been working for a while now. The hiring manager reached out to me directly to apply for his team, which felt promising. I completed my interviews about six business days ago, wrapping up on October 14-15. Since then, I've been in a bit of a waiting game, and the silence from HR and the manager is starting to give me anxiety. After sending thank you emails to the interview panel, I received very positive responses, which made me feel hopeful. However, my current supervisor just transferred to a different group after getting promoted, adding to my uncertainty about the transition process. I understand that internal offers require multiple approvals, including compensation checks and budget transfers, which can take time. The recruiter handling my application was also out sick for a couple of days this week, which might have slowed things down. I'm left wondering if this waiting period is normal or if the lack of communication is a bad sign. I have a few questions about the process: Is it common for hiring managers to wait until all approvals are finalized before providing any updates? What happens if I don't have a direct supervisor to help with my transition? How long do these internal checks usually take? And do managers typically inform internal candidates as soon as they receive clearance from HR? Any insights or experiences from others in similar situations would be greatly appreciated!
