Navigating Job Search Challenges After 22 Years in Biotech Leadership

I was laid off during a corporate reduction in force (RIF) in the summer of 2024 after spending over 22 years at a biotech company. I started my career as a bench chemist and worked my way up to become the Director of cGMP Manufacturing. My role involved overseeing a team responsible for contract manufacturing operations, process development, engineering, warehousing, and supply chain management. I played a significant part in developing the chemical processes for key ingredients in one of the COVID vaccines. After the initial surge in vaccine production, the company had to scale back, and I found myself among those affected by the multiple RIFs that followed the pandemic boom. The intense production environment during the pandemic took a toll on my physical and mental health. The company treated me fairly according to their policies, providing three months' notice before my termination. Since then, I have been struggling for the past 30 months to regain my confidence and find a new job. I've taken on odd jobs, music gigs, and focused on domestic life, but it's not fulfilling. I feel lost when it comes to job searching and am uncertain about re-entering the corporate world. It's been so long since my last interview in August 2001, and I genuinely don't know where to start. Any suggestions on how to navigate this would be greatly appreciated. I apologize for the lengthy post.
