Deciding Against a Part-Time Retail Job Offer Due to Commute and Costs

I recently faced a tough decision regarding a part-time retail job offer from a high-end clothing store located about 20 miles from my home. The commute was a significant concern for me, as Google Maps estimated it would take around 50 minutes to get there during the morning, and potentially over 90 minutes in the afternoon due to heavy traffic. I was particularly worried about the parking situation since it's in the biggest mall in my area, which is notoriously crowded. Another major factor was the company's strict policy regarding punctuality; they have a rule that states if you're late three times, you're fired, and even being one minute late counts. This meant I would have to leave at least 20 minutes earlier than necessary to account for unpredictable traffic, which added to my stress. Additionally, the job required me to wear their current collection, which could cost me my entire weekly paycheck, even with the employee discount. Given that I would only be working 15-17 hours a week, I realized I might not make any money in my first month because I'd be spending it all on clothes. After considering all these factors, I ultimately decided to reject the job offer. I felt that the long commute, the potential costs, and the strict policies made it not worth it. I’m still wondering if I made the right choice, but it just didn’t seem practical.
