I recently applied for internships as a student and had a professor agree to be my reference. She informed me that she received a reference check request from one of the companies I interviewed with. However, she just let me know that she sent her response about a week after receiving the request. I just got rejected from that company, and I'm wondering if the slow response from my reference could have impacted my chances. I’m feeling a bit anxious about it and would appreciate any advice on how references might affect job opportunities.
