I'm currently feeling conflicted about my career path. I've just completed a summer class that wraps up my degree in Communications, and I'm waiting about four weeks for everything to be finalized. My plan is to transfer to my in-state university for my bachelor's degree. However, I'm stuck in a government 9-5 job that I find mentally and emotionally draining. I'm struggling with the idea of whether to pursue internships in my field or stick it out in my current job, which is not aligned with my career goals. I'm worried about the choice between maintaining my job for financial stability and the potential of pursuing unpaid or paid internships that could lead to a position in Communications. My current job feels like a dead end, and I'm not interested in advancing in it. Yet, I need it to cover my bills and pay off debts. Balancing everything is going to be really tough. I'm committed to my education, but I'm unsure about the best approach to transition into my field. Should I wait for the perfect internship opportunity and risk leaving my job, or should I stay put and try to network within the government to find a way into Communications? I'm feeling really stuck and would appreciate any advice.
