I recently experienced a layoff from my job, where I was working as a [specific role] at [company name]. I had a decent employer, great benefits, and reasonable pay. Unfortunately, I went on maternity leave late last year, and upon my return, I found out my former manager had been terminated for what they called a 'business decision.' Shortly after I returned, I was also let go without cause, which was devastating. Before my termination, I had been actively seeking better work opportunities due to the outdated management practices at my company, which didn't prioritize safety. I genuinely liked my colleagues, but the work environment was frustrating. Now, I’m the sole income provider for my family, with a stay-at-home dad and two young children to care for. I've had a few interviews that seemed promising, but none of them panned out after I was let go. I’ve been applying to numerous positions, but I’m only receiving rejections. The anxiety and defeat I feel are overwhelming. My husband is also starting to look for work, but I know that the timing isn’t great with the year-end approaching. The uncertainty of our situation is really taking a toll on me.
