I have been unemployed for 10 months last year and finally landed a contractual role in May. Initially, I thought this contract would only last a few months, but it has been extended month after month. Recently, my boss offered me a permanent position, which they had been suggesting for a while. However, I just had a final interview with a firm that I find more prestigious and appealing. I'm feeling uncertain about my chances there, as I felt 50/50 about the interview. Currently, I’m not satisfied with my position since it feels like a downgrade; I was supposed to be in a managerial role, but instead, I'm doing staff-level tasks. Although the work is easy and offers a lot of flexibility, I’m hesitant to commit to the permanent role just to avoid being unemployed again. I accepted the offer from my boss, but I'm considering canceling the contract if the other firm extends an offer in the coming days. I’m really unsure if I made the right decision and would appreciate any advice on this situation.
