I recently had an interview for a manager position, but it raised several red flags for me. When I arrived, the team seemed unaware that I was coming, even though I had confirmed my attendance over the phone. The interview felt more like a casual conversation where they were just trying to gauge my knowledge rather than discussing the actual job role. They even asked me to complete a task that they made up on the spot, which felt unprofessional. Less than 30 minutes after the interview, they called me to offer a trial week, which I accepted. However, I had to follow up to clarify what the trial was for and whether it was paid. To my surprise, I learned that I had been demoted to a junior role for the trial. They requested some documents from me, which I sent, but I haven't received any acknowledgment or response since then. I'm feeling quite uneasy about the whole situation but will go through with the trial week since I need the money. Still, it all seems very dodgy to me, and I'm seeking advice on whether this is typical or if I should be concerned.
