Navigating job applications after layoff: frustrations with internal redeployment process

I was laid off nearly two months ago due to an organizational restructuring at my company. My role involved a mix of technical business analysis, Agile delivery, stakeholder management, and project execution, and it wasn't performance-related. While I was disappointed, I tried to stay professional and optimistic, especially since I was encouraged to explore internal redeployment opportunities. I thought that if the company valued my contributions, there might be a chance to retain me in another role. I went through the internal application process, communicated with recruiters, and completed multiple rounds of interviews for a position that matched my existing responsibilities. However, I became frustrated because it felt like there was a disconnect between my official title and the actual work I had been doing. I was employed as both a Technical Business Analyst and a Scrum Master, actively managing Agile ceremonies and supporting delivery across several initiatives. Yet, during the interviews, I felt like I was being judged more on my title than on the substance of my experience. Despite my dual role, it seemed my Scrum Master experience was overlooked due to how my position was represented on paper. I would have appreciated a more thoughtful assessment of my actual experience, especially since I was already part of the organization. After following up for feedback post-interviews, I received little meaningful communication and was ultimately rejected. I understand that redeployment isn't guaranteed, but the lack of transparency and support throughout the process was disappointing. Since late August, I've been applying to around 500 jobs externally, speaking with recruiters, completing assessments, and interviewing in a tough job market. It's exhausting to go from a stable career to constantly proving my qualifications for work I've been doing for years. I don't expect companies to hand out jobs, but there's a difference between genuine support and a process that feels performative. Maybe I'm taking this too personally since the layoff is still fresh, but I genuinely feel let down by how everything was handled. Has anyone else experienced something similar after a layoff? Were you encouraged to pursue internal roles only to feel treated like an external candidate?
