Feeling Invisible After Layoff: Struggling with Silence from Former Colleagues

I was recently laid off from my role, where I consistently met all performance metrics and was considered a team player. Despite feeling well-liked within my team, the aftermath of the layoff has left me feeling invisible. It's disheartening to realize that my former co-workers, managers, and even VPs have largely ignored my attempts to connect on LinkedIn. I sent connection requests to several VPs who had previously praised my work, but received no responses. I also reached out to a few old managers for recommendations, but again, nothing. This situation has made me question the authenticity of the relationships I thought I had built. I understand that many may not know how to respond or could be preoccupied with their own job security, but the silence feels like a rejection of my existence. Is this typical behavior in corporate environments? It’s tough to reconcile the idea of being part of a 'family' at work with the reality of being ghosted when I need support. I’ve read that some people rarely check LinkedIn or may be overwhelmed with unread messages, but it still stings.
