Today, I am feeling particularly disheartened about my father's job search. He has been unemployed for nearly three years now after being laid off from his position in Data & Business Analysis during the summer of 2024. Despite having a B.S. in Computer Science and extensive experience, including senior roles, he has struggled to find work in Texas. It's painful to watch him, a veteran of the Navy reserves, face rejection after rejection. We've updated his resume together and applied to countless positions, but it seems like every door is closed. The situation is becoming dire; he doesn't even have a car anymore due to financial struggles, which limits his ability to seek out opportunities. My family and I are doing our best to support him, but the emotional toll is heavy. I've never seen my dad so defeated, and it hurts to see someone who has sacrificed so much for our family in such a tough position. As someone who is just starting my own career, I feel helpless in trying to assist him. I really don't know what more we can do to help him turn this around.
