I've been contemplating quitting my job in the IT department lately. The work hours are standard 8-5, and while the pay is decent, the environment has become unbearable for me. Our CIO has implemented new rules that feel like micromanagement, which has made the atmosphere tense. My manager, although generally cool, has these unpredictable moods that affect the whole team. It feels like I'm working with a bunch of high schoolers who constantly gossip and try to pull me into their drama, which I refuse to engage in. I've been considering taking a break from work for about 1-3 months. I have enough savings to support myself for over a year if I manage my finances well. My plan is to use this time to relax, recharge mentally, learn new skills, and work on personal projects that could enhance my resume. I'm looking for advice on whether I should go through with quitting or if there are compelling reasons to stay in my current position.
