It seems that when a company establishes a Global Capability Center in another country or suddenly ramps up hiring aggressively overseas, it’s a clear signal that layoffs are on the horizon. Most companies, aside from those affected by the SaaSpocalypse, have maintained or slightly increased their workforce numbers each year. However, if I notice a significant number of job vacancies—like 3,500 positions opening up in a different country—it's likely that the company is planning to lay off around 10% of its workforce domestically. I’ve been thinking that instead of waiting for layoffs to happen and then scrambling for new positions, it might be smarter to keep an eye on these hiring trends beforehand. Based on what I’m seeing, I suspect that a major tech company, which has been a go-to for many before the rise of AI, is gearing up for a significant layoff soon. Additionally, there’s a well-known SaaS company that every designer seems to know (if you know, you know) that might also be facing a round of layoffs.
