I’m currently facing a tough situation with my rent due on August 1. Unfortunately, I'm short on the payment because my unemployment income was delayed this week. I reached out to customer service at the unemployment office, and they informed me that it might take a couple of days to resolve the issue and for the payment to come through. Thankfully, I believe there’s a 7-day grace period for rent payments here, so I won’t be charged late fees right away. I’m feeling really stressed about whether I should inform my landlord about the situation now or wait until the grace period is over. I’m also unsure if I should mention that my unemployment payment was delayed. If I do receive my unemployment payment by Monday, I don’t want to create unnecessary issues with my landlord. Once I receive both this week’s and next week’s unemployment checks, I will be able to pay my rent in full. I’m also on SNAP, which has been a lifesaver, but I’ve been struggling with hunger this month before that assistance kicked in. Any advice or support on how to handle this situation would be greatly appreciated.
