Navigating the Challenges of My Job Search After Being Laid Off as a Senior Engineer

I recently started my job search after being laid off from my role as a Senior Engineer at a tech company. One of the most surprising aspects of this process has been how difficult it is to even get an initial interview, despite having a resume that matches the job descriptions perfectly. It feels like there's a disconnect between what companies are looking for and what candidates like me can offer. The hardest part of this journey has been the uncertainty surrounding the hiring process. Unlike previous job searches where I felt more confident about my chances, now I find myself second-guessing my qualifications and wondering if I should adjust my resume or cover letter. I’ve also noticed that the competition seems to be fiercer than ever, which adds to the frustration. The most frustrating part of the hiring process has been waiting for responses after interviews or applications. It feels like a black hole sometimes. On a positive note, I did have a couple of interviews that went better than I expected, which gave me a boost of confidence. Overall, this experience has been eye-opening and challenging, and I hope to find a new role soon.
