I was on long-term approved leave due to a Workers' Comp claim when I received the news that I was laid off on August 15th, as the plant where I worked, which employed over 200 people, was closing down. To make matters worse, my portion of the health insurance premium had already been deducted from my checking account on August 7th, but my health insurance was unexpectedly cancelled on the day of my layoff without any prior notification.
