I recently went through a frustrating experience with a large corporation where I interviewed for a position. After four interviews and completing a task, I felt confident about my chances. However, they hit a hiring freeze due to the geopolitical situation in my area. Despite that, the last communication from HR was positive, indicating they would be happy to reconnect if the role reopened. A few weeks later, I noticed the exact same position posted on LinkedIn. Shortly after, I received an automated rejection email. I reached out to HR to clarify if that rejection was final and if they could provide any feedback, but I received no response. I followed up a week later, still with no reply. I'm really frustrated because I invested so much time and effort into their process, and it felt like we ended on a good note. Now, I'm left wondering what went wrong. I considered emailing the hiring manager for clarity, but I'm hesitant to come off as desperate. Having been laid off from my previous job, I was really counting on this opportunity, which is why this situation is hitting me particularly hard. I'm seeking advice on how to move forward from this.
