After nearly 19 years in my current role as a manager with six direct reports, I'm seriously considering a change. I've worked hard to build a strong team that feels like family, but I'm feeling burnt out due to the company's direction and the stress from upper management. The recent cutbacks have put us in a position where mistakes could lead to serious injuries, which is weighing heavily on me. Some of my former coworkers who left for another company have been encouraging me to apply for an open position there, and I believe I would get it. Currently, I make between $150,000 and $170,000, depending on bonuses, and I have no debt, a paid-off home, and a solid 401k. The new job would be as an individual contributor in the same field, with a starting salary of $105,000, likely increasing to around $125,000-$130,000 with holiday pay and minimal overtime. The schedule would also improve significantly, going to a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation. Has anyone else faced a similar situation? I'm open to any advice.
