Laid off via impersonal email: A frustrating experience with corporate America

I was laid off in the most impersonal way possible. I didn’t receive a call from my manager or any communication from HR—nothing at all. I just got an email in my personal inbox stating that my last day was effective immediately, and all my access was cut off. The company I worked for operated on a permanent work-from-home model, so not even a Zoom call or a phone call to discuss it is just wild to me. I had been with the company for less than a year, and it would have been nice to have someone reach out personally. This experience has really reinforced my belief that corporate America, driven by greed, will never change. It's frustrating to see record profits while workers are still being laid off—it should be illegal.
