Navigating low pay and variable hours in my new healthcare administration job

I recently accepted a new job in healthcare administration, which is starting this month, but I'm really struggling with the low pay. It's frustrating because just a couple of years ago, I was earning significantly more in this field. Now, it seems like all the job listings for similar roles offer the same or even lower compensation than what I've accepted. To make matters worse, the hours are variable, and I could get called in on short notice, making it difficult to take on a second job. As it stands, my monthly expenses—rent, groceries, and bills—will completely consume my paycheck, leaving me with a deficit of a couple hundred dollars each month. I live in a rough apartment and drive an old car. I don't go out or drink because I simply can't afford it. It's disheartening to see my peers seemingly managing better, especially without family support. I have a university degree, yet I'm still struggling to make ends meet. I feel like I'm stuck in a cycle where the job market is oversaturated with people holding degrees like mine, which drives down wages. It's a tough situation, and I don't know how others are coping without additional income or support.
