Navigating my new telemarketing job with unexpected pay and concerns

I've been working in B2B sales for a major telecom company for the past two years, but it was through a third-party vendor that turned out to be a bit of a pyramid scheme. Recently, our company was let go, prompting all of us to start searching for new opportunities. I decided to apply directly to the telecom giant and surprisingly got an interview for a telemarketing and cold calling position. Desperate for a job, I accepted the offer after going through five rounds of interviews. When I started my first week, I was shocked to find that I hadn’t done any actual work yet. They were paying me to come in every day, clock in, and just listen to music while I waited for training to begin in a month. To my surprise, I learned that the sales strategy was primarily based on automated outbound emails rather than cold calling, which was not what I expected. The compensation was also unexpectedly generous: an hourly wage that equates to a $60K base salary, plus a $20K bonus that compounds monthly, and additional commission. It felt almost too good to be true, and I started to wonder if I had hit the jackpot. However, as I talked to my new coworkers, I discovered that this program had only been established six months prior, and many of the long-term employees had left due to restructuring. I also found out that I was earning more than some employees who had been there for years, which raised some red flags for me. At 23 years old, I was ecstatic about the $80K offer, especially since I live in Orlando where the cost of living is manageable. But seeing that most of my colleagues are in their 40s and 50s made me question whether I was just lucky or if the company was trying to phase out older employees in favor of a younger workforce. While I know this is a layoff forum and my situation is quite the opposite, I can't shake the feeling of unease. I’m worried that I might be overpaid and that this job may not last. Has anyone else experienced something similar or have any advice on how to navigate this uncertainty?
