I was laid off in March and have been searching for a new job since then. Recently, I reached the final stage of the hiring process with a company and received an offer. However, I'm now anxious about the background check. On my resume, I indicated that I am still employed at my previous company, but when I filled out the background check form, I provided the correct start and end dates. I'm worried that this discrepancy might be a deal breaker. I wonder what HR will focus on in the report from the third-party company. I’ve heard that even a small inconsistency could raise red flags, especially since it’s been about 6-7 months since my layoff.
