Navigating Job Challenges as a Front Desk Worker at a Pharmacy After Loss

I recently faced a tough situation at my job as a front desk worker at a pharmacy. I’m autistic and also have ADHD and OCD, which has made things even more challenging for me, especially since my mother passed away. I now have the responsibility of paying the family bills and looking after my two 19-year-old siblings. For a year, I had an accommodation that allowed me two unpaid days off each month for my mental health. However, after my mother’s death in January, I was told that the family leave I had been using was no longer applicable. Since then, I’ve struggled to keep up with work. I’ve been late multiple times, and my manager issued a written warning, stating that one more lateness could lead to termination. I understand the pressure this puts on her, especially since I’m the only person at the front desk and my lateness affects the pharmacy’s operations. The stress has been overwhelming. I had an autistic meltdown recently and almost quit my job, but I can’t afford to lose it. Just this past week, I faced a series of unfortunate events: my car was booted due to tickets I didn’t know I had, my therapist sent a mobile crisis team to check on me, and I woke up late on multiple occasions, leading to tears and panic about being late for work. I’m currently drafting a letter to HR to request my original accommodation back and to adjust my working hours so I only work when the pharmacy is open. I’m really worried about losing my job due to my unreliability, and while I know HR is supposed to help, I fear they might deny my request and I could be let go. It’s a tough situation, and I’m just trying to find a way to manage everything.
