I recently had a final round interview with the CEO of a company after being laid off in May. The interview went really well, and towards the end, I mentioned that my references were eager to be contacted. The CEO seemed surprised that they hadn't reached out yet, indicating that they were a bit behind in the process. Shortly after, I received an invitation to complete a background check verification, which I did promptly. This has left me wondering if this is a strong indicator that they intend to make me an offer, or if there are still other candidates in the running. It's a bit nerve-wracking, especially since I have no confirmation from the company yet. I just hope this means good news is on the way!
