Applied for community outreach role with local government for better job satisfaction

I'm currently working on the growth team at a government contracting company, and although we've recently won new work and are hiring a lot, I'm feeling really miserable in my role. I find myself taking on more administrative tasks because I understand them better, but overall, I just don't enjoy my job. The silver lining is that there are always job openings in this industry, so I don't have to worry about layoffs. Recently, I received an offer for a position with my local government in a community outreach and relationship-building role. This job is funded, and the county offers great benefits. Living in a progressive and affluent area, I've always dreamed of working for our local government, especially since I love where I live. Plus, the pension would vest in five years, which is appealing. The new job would be a lateral salary move, meaning I would earn the same amount as I do now. My current position is remote, but I occasionally go into the office, which is about 30-40 minutes away. The new role would require me to be in the office four days a week, but it's only a five-minute drive, and I find that I’m more motivated when working in an office environment. They also seem flexible with work hours. My fiancé and I are considering moving in a year, although it’s not set in stone. So, part of me thinks it might be smarter to stay in my current job for flexibility. However, I’m really unhappy where I am, and the thought of working for my county excites me. If I enjoy the new role, I might want to stay for the pension and the great maternity leave benefits if we decide to have kids. I’m just torn about what to do.
