Feeling undervalued after nearly nine years at my company amid salary disparities

I've been with my company for nearly nine years, and I've held my current role for seven of those years. I started at a salary of $55k, with the range back then being $52k to $78k. Over the years, I've received modest annual raises, and my current salary is $71,400. Recently, I discovered that the company has reposted my position due to an expansion in another department, but the new salary range is significantly higher, now between $76k and $104k. I approached my manager to discuss whether existing employees would receive a salary adjustment to match the new range. He informed me that while the company updated the salary range to remain competitive, there was no budget for adjusting the salaries of current employees. I expressed my concern about being underpaid compared to new hires, especially since I train them and manage some of the largest accounts. My manager dismissed my concerns by stating that salary ranges are merely guidelines for recruitment and don't necessarily apply to current employees. He suggested I focus on my benefits and the stability I've had with the company, which felt dismissive. When I asked if I could apply for the newly posted position, he laughed initially, thinking I was joking, but then explained that an internal transfer likely wouldn't lead to a significant pay increase due to my compensation history. This situation has really changed my perception of the company. My manager advised me to wait until the next review cycle to push for a larger raise, but that's eight months away, and even a 4 percent raise would still leave me below the new minimum. I'm left wondering if there's any realistic way to advocate for a market adjustment without another job offer, or if my only option is to start applying elsewhere. It's frustrating to see the company advertise competitive salaries while existing employees are left behind.
