At 20 years old and searching for an entry-level job in Florida, I can't believe how much work it takes just to apply for something that should be straightforward. It feels absurd that I have to create accounts, verify emails, and enter the same information multiple times, even though my résumé is ready to go. Then there are personality assessments and sometimes video interviews before I even get to speak with a real person. After all that effort, I often hear nothing back, which is frustrating. Searching for jobs on platforms like Indeed or Google has become a daunting task. Many listings seem promising but lead to ghost jobs or positions that are already filled. It's exhausting to think that if I'm struggling to find work, it's somehow my fault for not trying hard enough. Applying for jobs has turned into a full-time job in itself, yet I don't get paid for it. What frustrates me the most is how companies demand so much for basic, entry-level positions that don't even offer decent pay. Why do I need to jump through so many hoops just to be considered? It feels like I'm being tested repeatedly before I'm even allowed to step through the door. I’m tired of re-entering the same details, creating new accounts, and taking endless assessments. I just want a fair chance at a job that pays enough to live on. This entire system feels broken, and I know I'm not alone in feeling this way.
