I recently left my job at a company where I encountered some of the most incompetent and childish behavior I've ever seen in my career. Despite the pay being decent and the freedom I had, the management was completely absent, which led to a high turnover rate. I often found myself managing complex issues that no one else was qualified to handle, thanks to my certifications and expertise. However, during performance reviews, I received a mere 3.1% raise, the same as those who did not put in the extra effort, despite my expectations for at least a 10% increase. I decided to apply for a position at another company that shares a mutual partner with my former employer. After four interviews, I successfully negotiated a 49% pay increase for the same role. I gave my two weeks' notice effective 8/27/26 and returned my uniforms, aiming for a professional exit. However, the day before my last day, I received an email with my separation papers, which referenced agreements I supposedly signed but couldn't recall. When I questioned the validity of these documents, I was told to check the HR website, but the document they provided bore my signature and was not the same as what they claimed. Things escalated quickly; HR referred my case to legal, and later that day, I was called by my manager to inform me that I was terminated immediately and was not allowed to return to the site. They even sent my belongings to my house instead of allowing me to pick them up. It felt like they were trying to retaliate against me for questioning their legal threats. In the end, I’m relieved to have left that toxic environment. It’s ironic that a simple raise could have kept me happy, but their refusal to acknowledge my contributions pushed me to seek better opportunities. Now, I’m making more money than ever before!
