Navigating salary negotiation anxiety after a verbal offer from a consulting firm

I recently had a verbal offer from a large consulting firm where I was interviewing for a role. During the process, I communicated my salary expectations, which were in the $X–Z range, and the firm indicated they were preparing an offer around Y, which is the midpoint of my range. I decided to negotiate for a slightly higher figure, closer to Z, as it was only a 2% increase from their offer. I felt it was reasonable to advocate for myself, especially since I have more experience than the role requires and was referred by an internal employee. However, now I'm second-guessing whether my request for a small increase could jeopardize the offer. It's only been two days since my last call, but I did reach out to the recruiter for any updates or additional information they might need. I haven't received a response yet, which is making me anxious. I know I might just be overthinking things, but it's been a while since I've navigated this process, and I'm feeling a bit out of touch with the current job market. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!
