I recently left my job and took a month to relax before diving into my job search about two months ago. It's been exhausting, but I'm willing to send out over 100 applications a day. However, I've been shocked by how intrusive some companies have become during the application process. For instance, I applied to a well-known company that asked for my government IDs right in the application form. I understand that they might need this information if they decide to interview me and extend an offer, but why do they need it at the application stage? It feels inappropriate to share such personal information with a company that hasn't even accepted my application yet. This isn't an isolated incident either; I've encountered at least five companies asking for excessive personal details, including one that wanted information about my family's employment. I'm left wondering if this is the new norm in job applications, as my last job hunt was over three years ago and I don't recall it being this invasive.
