I recently went through two rounds of interviews for a position I was really excited about. The first was a phone screening, and the second was a panel interview with four people. Most of my communication had been through a recruiter, so I was surprised when the hiring manager called me today to let me know that I didn't get the job. He mentioned it was a close decision, but they chose to go with an internal candidate instead. What was encouraging, though, is that he told me one of the panelists is looking to expand his team and suggested I keep an eye out for that role since it’s related to the one I applied for. He even gave me his email so we could stay in touch. I’m not very familiar with this kind of process, but I’ve heard that being kept in the loop like this is a good sign. I have a few questions about how to proceed: 1. When should I reach out to the hiring manager if that new job posting comes up? 2. Since I already interviewed with the panelist, would I have to go through the entire interview process again? 3. Is it appropriate to ask for the panelist's contact information? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
