Feeling Overwhelmed and Underappreciated as a Customer Service Representative

I’ve been feeling really overwhelmed and underappreciated at my job lately. I work in customer service, primarily doing over-the-phone troubleshooting, and it seems like I'm just a punching bag for frustrated customers. I know my stuff and I'm quite knowledgeable, but it’s disheartening to see my colleagues in higher tiers handle issues incorrectly, which often leaves me in a position where I have to either give up on helping the customer or do their jobs for them. Earlier this year, I was promised a promotion, but then they hired someone else for the role. I understand he’s qualified and has been with the company longer, but it’s frustrating to feel like I’m being overlooked despite my efforts. I keep getting told that I’m next in line for a promotion, but there’s no clear plan for when that might happen. Honestly, I’m starting to think that being unemployed might feel less soul-crushing than staying in this job where I feel so stuck and unvalued. I just need some reassurance that my career is moving forward.
