I recently applied for a job and unfortunately didn't get it because the company couldn't verify my previous employment. I had provided my tax forms as proof, but the company I worked for closed down about six years ago after the owner passed away. I was upfront about this during the interview process, but it seems that wasn't enough for them. I'm feeling a bit stuck and unsure of what to do next since I can't provide a reference from that job. I'm considering reaching out to former coworkers on LinkedIn or trying to contact my old boss's email, but it's frustrating how picky companies can be, especially with the job market being so tough right now.
