I applied for a job yesterday and got a call today for a brief on-the-spot interview. They scheduled me for an in-person interview and sent me a link to complete a separate employment application beforehand. However, I'm stuck on the references section. I have very little experience and can't think of anyone to list. My first job was about five years ago, and I only worked there for a year before leaving due to surgery. I don't have my former boss's contact information, and I'm not sure she'd remember me anyway, especially since she wasn't the best at treating employees. I also thought about listing my volunteer work from years ago, but I don't have any contacts from that time, and most of the people I worked with have likely moved on. I'm unsure if I can leave the reference section blank, if all three slots need to be filled, or what the etiquette is for references in general. I know that leaving it blank could jeopardize my chances, but I really don't have anyone to provide.
