Leaving my Business Development Director role for new sales opportunities after unpaid commissions

I quit my job yesterday as a Business Development Director at an industrial shop because my boss stopped paying out commissions. I had been with the company for a little over two years, and while sales were slow at first, things picked up significantly. However, everything changed when our boss lost a key contract that was crucial for our cash flow. I received an email stating that commissions would be frozen, and since I hadn't been paid in a while, I realized my time there was limited. After much contemplation, I finally mustered the courage to start my own sales gig, securing a few client retainers to kick things off. I can't help but feel regret for not making this move sooner. Leaving was emotional for me because I genuinely enjoyed working there. I sent my resignation via email, highlighting the issue of unpaid commissions, but to my surprise, I received no acknowledgment. My email was disabled just a couple of hours later, leaving me in silence. Despite the abrupt end, I'm excited about this new journey and have learned a valuable lesson about taking risks. Plus, I’m looking forward to never having to submit a PTO request again!
