I recently resigned from my job after 8 years at a company where I had been consistently promoted and was next in line for a supervisor position. My boss, however, passed me over for the promotion in favor of a new hire who he seemed to have a crush on. This new employee, who was attractive and quickly became popular, was given tasks directly from my boss, leading to my hard work being credited to her instead. I tolerated this for five months, hoping my patience would pay off, but when she was regularized and I was overlooked, I decided I couldn't take it anymore and resigned without a backup plan. After I left, my boss kept reaching out for help with tasks, revealing he didn't actually know how to manage the work without me. Eventually, he admitted that the new hire was struggling and that he regretted not valuing my contributions more. Now, he's offering me a higher salary and the supervisor position if I come back. I'm torn about whether to return or to keep searching for a new job. On one hand, I have a strong track record and it would be nice to work somewhere without the stress of favoritism. On the other hand, going back could provide me with leverage and a better title for my resume while I continue to look for other opportunities. I'm weighing my options carefully.
