I was recently laid off from my job as a Technical Artist, and now I'm in the tough position of job hunting. It's really daunting for me, as I feel a lot of pressure to find something before my savings run out. I have some financial cushion, but the thought of running out of money is terrifying. The job market feels overwhelming because I notice that many of the positions I see don't align perfectly with my skills. I have experience working with Unity, but most roles seem to require Unreal Engine knowledge. Additionally, I’m proficient in Autodesk 3DS Max, while many listings ask for expertise in Maya or Blender. I know C#, but I'm not familiar with other programming languages, which further narrows my options. Living in the UK adds another layer of stress since I have a mortgage, making relocation difficult. Remote work is also intimidating for me, as I’m not used to it. I worry that if I do land a job, it might not be a good fit, and I could end up failing my probation or being unhappy. Today, I took the first step and submitted five job applications in just two hours, but I already feel overwhelmed. I’m really scared about the possibility of not finding a job and potentially facing homelessness. I’m looking for advice on how to cope with this anxiety and navigate the job search process effectively.
