Navigating a Job Offer Dilemma After Interviewing for a Part-Time Role

I recently found myself in a bit of a dilemma after interviewing for a part-time position in my favorite field while working in healthcare. I genuinely enjoy my current job, but felt that my development opportunities were somewhat limited. A friend informed me about this amazing opportunity, and despite not actively looking to leave, I decided to go for it, not really believing I had a chance. To my surprise, I received an offer for the job. I was torn because I really like my current role, so I approached my boss to explain the situation. I expressed my desire to stay on part-time if possible. Unfortunately, she declined my request and expressed disappointment that I hadn’t informed her about the interview beforehand. She mentioned that if I had communicated my intentions, they might have worked something out for me to remain part-time. Now, I can’t shake the feeling that I’m being punished for not telling her about the interview. I didn’t think it was necessary to inform her, as I was still committed to my current job. I ended up accepting the new position, but I feel a bit sad about how things turned out. Was I wrong for not mentioning the interview to my boss?
