I just received a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) during my one-on-one with my manager today after four years at the company. The document is quite lengthy, but the first couple of pages outline the action items I need to address over the next six weeks. This period will last until early December, and I'm feeling overwhelmed as I consider my options. I'm contemplating whether I should negotiate for severance instead of going through the PIP process. Ideally, I'd like to take it easy for a bit before jumping into job hunting after the holidays. However, I have no experience with negotiating severance and I'm unsure how to approach this. I'm reaching out to see if anyone has advice or insights on how to navigate this situation.
