I recently graduated with a degree in secondary social studies education and a minor in sociology. I'm 22 and took a summer job with my local school district, which was a great experience where I created activities for a small group of kids. This led to a substitute teaching position, but I haven't picked up any shifts yet since the school year just started. I initially thought subbing would help me secure a full-time teaching job, but I'm now uncertain if that's the right path for me. While I want to work in a school or learning environment, I don't necessarily want to be a teacher. I'm exploring options like counseling or secretarial jobs, but the job application process feels overwhelming. To complicate things, I don't have regular access to a car, which makes finding full-time work even tougher. I'm also feeling restless and unproductive just sitting at home. I'm considering asking my aunt, who owns a restaurant, if I can pick up evening or weekend shifts to stay active while I figure things out. I'm wondering if this is a good plan or if I should wait to see how I feel about subbing before pursuing something else.
