I recently started a job on the finance team at a company after being unemployed for about three months. My boss was upfront about the not-so-great benefits, but I really needed the income and the team seemed great. However, I've been growing increasingly concerned about the company's financial stability. We've had multiple instances where accounts and orders were put on hold due to late payments, and there have been days when the company credit card has been maxed out. This wasn't the case when I first joined. The CEO makes some questionable financial decisions and has a poor attitude toward employees, leading to a lot of blame-shifting among departments. It's uncomfortable to witness, especially when he accuses employees of not caring or even stealing. The benefits are also lacking: a $3,000 medical deductible, no 401k, no vacation until after a year, and no sick leave until after three months. I knew about the benefits when I accepted the job, but I really needed to work. The difficult part is that I genuinely love my boss and my team. My boss does a lot to protect us from the CEO and other managers who have similar attitudes. I'm torn about whether I should start looking for another job while I'm still employed, especially with the financial instability looming. Should I jump ship now or wait for a potential crisis?
