I'm feeling really down about my job situation right now. I graduated with a degree in computer science three years ago, but my career path has been pretty rough. Currently, I'm working as an IT support technician at a factory, which mainly involves fixing printers and computers. The pay is only $1,000 a month for a demanding schedule of 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, and given that I live in a high-cost country, it's just not sustainable. I've been in this role for three years, and despite my efforts to improve my skills by working on personal projects and studying for an AWS certification, job opportunities have been scarce. I've applied to many positions but only landed a couple of interviews in the last two years, which has been incredibly discouraging. With a child to support, I'm really feeling the financial pressure, and I've been in the red for months. I stopped applying for jobs for a while because it felt pointless, but now I'm trying again, even though I'm terrified of facing the same rejection. The tech industry seems to be in a bad place, and I can't help but wonder if this is it for my career. I love what I do, but the rapid advancements in AI make me feel like my chances of breaking into development are slipping away. I wish I could dedicate more time to studying and working on projects, but my current job takes up so much of my time and energy. I've even thought about changing my career path entirely, but I don't know where to go since I enjoy science, math, and arts, all of which seem to be impacted by AI as well. I'm just really scared about my future and what it holds.
