Navigating Career Uncertainty After Layoff: Seeking Guidance and New Opportunities

I recently faced a layoff from my position as a loan processor assistant at a mortgage company, where I had just been promoted two months prior. My background includes roles as an events coordinator, front desk staff at hotels, and legal and administrative assistant positions in various settings, including a corporate company and a dealership. I really enjoyed my last job because it involved a lot of learning, problem-solving, and communication across departments, all while requiring strong organizational skills. I thrive in environments where each day is different, and I prefer to work independently with minimal social interaction. Unfortunately, I’m feeling quite lost right now. At 26, I’m struggling to find career alternatives that align with my interests and experience. I’ve researched various programs at universities, but nothing has caught my attention. Additionally, I’ve noticed that many job postings require several years of experience, which is discouraging. I live in California, and it seems like there’s a decline in administrative roles too, which adds to my anxiety about the job market. I’m good at helping people but have no desire to work in healthcare or a hospital setting. I feel like I’m running out of options and really need some guidance on what to do next.
