I'm currently in a tough spot with my job situation. I was hired right out of high school as the Head Graphic Designer at a local company after getting my associates degree in graphic design. Initially, I was making $60k a year, which felt amazing for an 18-year-old. However, after a year, my position was changed to part-time and remote, which was a big red flag for me. I moved to the city with my partner and started my own photography/videography business while juggling various gigs. This year, things took a turn when they hired a new head graphic designer and demoted me to part-time videographer. It was frustrating because I had built the brand standards and systems that she now uses. I proposed a plan to return to a full-time role leading the marketing team, but they cut my hours again and left me in a precarious position. Now, I'm at risk of being laid off anytime, and I'm struggling to find a job that pays as well as my original position. I've applied to various roles, even at places like Subway and Walmart, but I've faced rejections everywhere. If I lose my job, I only have a couple of months of savings to fall back on, and I'm feeling really anxious about what comes next.
